Parts of Security Systems

Security systems are composed of many components that a homeowner should be familiar with properly. It is more than your average lock on your door and should be taken quite seriously. Having enough knowledge about the different components of a residential home security system will make the installation and maintenance easier.

Security Cameras

These are your eyes around your home. You obviously cannot be in two different places at the same time and cannot see everything. Security cameras will allow you to do that. Some cameras will allow you to record events happening in your home while you are away. A new kind of camera is becoming more popular and that is the nanny cam. This kind of camera can be hidden discreetly and you will be able to watch over the people taking care of your children.

Magnetic Locks

Magnetic locks should be placed on windows and doors so the homeowner can tell if the door or windows have been opened without your permission. The alarm will sound if both sides of the magnetic lock are not facing each other, and that happens when a door or window is opened.

Motion Detectors

Security systems can also benefit a lot from motion detectors. They can detect suspicious movement in the house when you think everyone is fast asleep already. You can even set this that it will catch your children sneaking out. The motion detectors placed outside near windows and doors can detect someone trying to break into your home.

Control Panel

The control is the brains of the security systems. This is where you can set your home security system to do anything you please.
