Home Alarm

There are several different ways you can do to prevent a burglary and one of the most popular ideas is installing a home alarm. Most homeowners usually put up security systems only after they have been burglarized, but isn’t preventing a burglary a better idea?

According to crime reports compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, one out of six houses is usually robbed every year. It also said in the report that a burglar takes around 60 seconds to break into a home with no extra security features. So, by making it very difficult for the burglar to break into your home, they will eventually get discouraged and leave your home alone.

Aside from installing a home alarm, here are other ideas you can incorporate into your own house to prevent burglaries.

1. Keep a very sturdy door. If you want the most protection from your door, it should be made of steel or solid wood. It is also advisable to not have any sort of glass pane on your door, as it can become very vulnerable to a break-in.

In addition to having a key lock, you should add a deadbolt lock installed. Deadbolts can withstand lock picking and pounding. It is also a good idea to place a peephole on the door.

2. Install lighting in strategic places indoor and outdoor. Lights are cheap ways to deter thieves from breaking into your home. They prefer to work in the dark than have all their bad deeds spotlighted. Bulbs should also be out of reach so they cannot be broken or removed easily by burglars. Motion sensing lights can also easily scare away burglars because the sudden flash of lights will surprise them.

3. Make sure you don’t leave items around the house that could aid a burglar when they are trying to break into your house. Like a ladder conveniently placed outside a window or items like a screw driver that could easily break open a window.
